Truly a marvel of casting quality, this reproduction Victorian string holder has been cast in steel, instead of the more fragile cast iron.
Twisting the holder halves allows them to be separated for insertion/removal of the string. The top half has an integral hang tab, allowing the holder to be hung. Once a staple item in post offices, butcher shops, or any place parcels were string wrapped.
About 4 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" wide, it works best with string balls about 3" × 3".
